We did it. We bought a standalone freezer. And yes, I”m psyched!
We got an AMAZING deal from our local grocery store, of all places, that really made the purchase worthwhile. The cost of the freezer was $159.99 but the freezer also came with coupons (and a gift card) that totalled $160 in value, so we essentially made our money back in free food and other goodies.
As if that wasn’t cool enough, our store also had a promotion where you could buy a $300 gift card and get a $30 bonus added to the card, which was essentially an instant 10% return on investment. Then, we used the gift card to buy the freezer and now we have plenty left on the card to shop for a few weeks.
We had gone back and forth about the expense of the freezer for months. We were also concerned that we wouldn’t have anywhere in our house to put it!
Funny how you can make room when you have a looming deal deadline though.
That was two weeks ago, and we just plugged it in and started using it yesterday. It’s awesome! The cost to run the freezer (based on the Energy Guide statement that came with the freezer and the cost per KWH from our most recent electricity bill) will be about 50 cents per week!
So, I went out shopping yesterday and was finally able to take advantage of some fantastic deals since I knew I had a freezer to finally store things. When cheese is on sale for $1 for 8oz and you have a toddler, you RUN, not walk to the local store to stock up! What a great feeling to know that this freezer is more than paying for itself every day.
Spend a little to save a lot! This purchase was worth every penny!
